UPDATE 34 : 3/4/01 'AWAY DAYS' |
Please take note that we are obliged to prevent public access to the Millennium Green during the precautionary restrictions caused by 'foot & mouth disease' prevention measures - watch out for notices at the site boundary. We are acting under advice from Bradford Council as the local authority responsible for imposing restrictions in this area.
The Darwin Gardens Trust would like to thank the public for their continued
co-operation in keeping off the Green at this time.
Pedestrians can still use the pavement alongside Wells Road, and this
gives an excellent view of our new plantings of 'wild' specie daffodils,
which seem to be establishing very well at the upper end of the ghyll.
These will complement previous roadside plantings of naturalising bulbs
and we are hoping for a fine display at Easter.
Most work on site has been suspended during the current restrictions; however by observing recommended precautions, our volunteers have been able to complete an inspection of all trees in the developing wildlife hedge, replacing stakes and guards where necessary. We have also temporarily removed the flagpole pending construction of a new, permanent foundation.
Title to the land of Darwin Gardens Millennium Green has been vested in The Official Custodian for Charities - completing the legal procedures involved in establishing the Green as an enduring Millennium project. The Darwin Gardens Trust remains directly responsible for all aspects of development and management of the Green. The Trustees would like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for their continued support, and look forward to welcoming you back as soon as we are advised that public access can be restored.
